Nestled in the heart of Courtenay, BC, the Millard-Piercy watershed is more than just a network of streams—it’s a living, breathing ecosystem, home to salmon, trout, and countless other species that rely on clean, healthy waters to thrive. As a Watershed Steward, you'll work alongside dedicated volunteers to protect this vital watershed, blending hands-on conservation with advocacy and education.
Through fish and water monitoring, we track salmon returns, measure water quality, and identify risks to aquatic life. Our work helps inform urban development policies, ensuring that growth in our community doesn’t come at the cost of the environment. We also engage with the public—teaching the next generation about the delicate balance of our watersheds and how they can help.
Every culvert fixed, every invasive species removed, and every conversation that sparks awareness adds up to something bigger. In a world where natural spaces are increasingly under pressure, being a Watershed Steward is about taking responsibility for the health of our waters and ensuring they remain vibrant for generations to come.
